What happened that made you decide to leave?
I was constantly in fear. I thought I would explode with anxiety.
How did you feel about your abuser and/or your relationship in the days before you left?
It was so intense, fortunately we did not live in the same house. I had my own place and I made it clear we must be official before I can move in with him.
What three emotions did you most experience in the days closest to leaving?
Really down, felt I would not smile again, restless , anxious and wasted. That’s exactly how I felt.
Who knew you were leaving besides you?
I alone knew i was going to breakup with him.
Before I Left the Abusive Relationship
What were the one or two BEST things you did before you left?
I told him that even though the situation is not good I know that he is a good man especially in the eyes of God, as we are all.
If there was anything you wish you had not done before you left, what was it?
I raised my voice twice, this is not my behavoiur as I am always very soft and calm.
My Life After the Abusive Relationship
How long ago did you leave? How do you feel today?
One year now. I am living my life and thank God for it.

Many people get manipulated because they don’t understand the situation they are in. Let us hold our sisters’ hands and rise together.
