It's a double-edged sword. If I attempt to breach the gap physically when he's withdrawing, he ignores the attempt, pulling away. If I attempt to engage him while he's exhibiting his anger, well, he doesn't ignore it but I get a string of hostilities thrown at me and physically pushed away. So, at an earlier point in our relationship, I tried the "come here baby" approach. It's one of the things I've learned doesn't work. Will withdraws affection before he shows his anger.
